1. Examine a product sample
Request the proposed colour, finish, dimensions, joints and fixings. Examine a sample in daylight beside adjacent materials. Check batch variation, lead times and replacement-part availability. A marketing image cannot establish identical appearance from every angle or absence of reflection.
2. Check the integrated system’s functions
Have the roof or facade layers and junctions described. Specify responsibility for mounting, weatherproofing, ventilation, insulation and maintenance. These functions depend on the complete system, not glass colour alone. Ask how elements are replaced and junctions with windows, edges or chimneys are handled.
3. Compare capacity and usable area
Use the data sheet for the exact version and colour being ordered, including power, dimensions and test conditions. Compare installed capacity, actual covered area and monthly kWh for the same building. Colouring methods and products affect performance; one loss percentage or efficiency value cannot describe every option. Identify active elements and finishing pieces.
4. Compare approvals and building-envelope costs
Present layout, colour and samples to the competent authority for the building and its protection status. Colour does not guarantee approval. Compare conventional roofing plus panels with solar roofing, including removal, junctions, underlay, scaffolding, electrical work and service. Count any material saving once and verify advertised grants separately.
