Technical explanation
In a microinverter architecture, each panel operates independently with its own MPPT. Shading a panel (chimney, tree, dirt) no longer reduces the production of other panels in the same string — each is optimized separately. DC→AC conversion at module level simplifies wiring (roof AC cables, simpler and less dangerous than high voltage DC cables). The efficiency per module is 95-96.5%, slightly lower than large string inverters (97-98.5%). Enphase Enlighten monitoring allows you to see the production of each panel individually — a powerful tool for detecting a failing panel.
