What this changes for your decision
From January 1, 2027, the legal remuneration model can be based on the market price at the time of injection if the DSO and the producer do not agree on another price. This guide shows the elements to check in the quote and contract.
For your project, the item “retrofit” should be explained in terms of the building, consumption, grid connection and contract. Ask for the source, date and, for calculated values, the method used.
For your project: First check existing inverter compatibility and required work. Compare preparation, immediate retrofit and later retrofit with the same cost and demand assumptions.
Three checks before signing
1. Load curve
Use quarter-hourly or hourly data to justify controllable capacity and uses.
2. Compatibility
Check inverter, EMS, battery, terminal, backup function and cloud dependency together.
3. Life cycle
Compare price, losses, warranty, degradation, replacement and service over the entire duration of use.
References for “Modernization” for your project
- Federal Council, recovery remuneration 2027: From January 1, 2027, the legal remuneration model can be based on the market price at the time of injection if the DSO and the producer do not agree on another price.
- Swissolar, new model of retribution: Swissolar says the hourly spot price creates an incentive to store or consume solar electricity locally when prices are low.
- Swissolar, Swiss Battery Monitor 2026: The 2026 monitor lists 1,5 GWh of behind-the-meter storage, 135 MWh of network storage and 4,2 GWh of network projects planned by 2030.

Compare quotes on a solid basis
Ask for a reference variant and a conservative variant. Each must separate investment, self-consumption, injection, aid, schedule and responsibilities. You will see if the result holds with a less favorable hypothesis.
For the item “retrofit”, the quote should state the data to confirm before work starts, who will check it and how changes will be handled.
Your next step
Prepare utility bill, roof information, existing contracts and comparable quotes. Answer in writing to open questions, then compare net price, annual profit and contractual consequences.
