The One-off subsidy (RU) is calculated by Pronovo according to the power, the type of installation, the date of commissioning and the rules in force. Many households waste time because they mix up schedules or prepare the wrong parts.
Rule number one, to remember now: do not mix calendars. For typical small photovoltaic installations of less than 100 kWp, the application for the Pronovo one-off subsidy is submitted after commissioning. On the other hand, certain municipal aid, batteries, renovations or large installations may require a procedure before work.
What exactly is RU Pronovo?
Pronovo SA is a company mandated by the Swiss Confederation to manage aid for the production of renewable electricity. Since 2020, the old Cost Price Retribution (RPC, a guaranteed feed-in tariff) system has been replaced for small installations — less than 100 kWp — by the One-off subsidy (RU) : a one-shot capital payment, which is paid to you once the installation is completed and registered.

Use the Tarifrechner Pronovo without overinterpreting the amount
The Official price of Pronovo is an indicative calculation, not an eligibility decision. Enter the installed capacity, planned commissioning date, construction type and any relevant bonuses. Then save a dated capture with the assumptions used.
Before including the result in a quote, ask the installer to confirm that the final power, roof category, self-consumption and date of commissioning correspond to the calculation. A change in material or schedule may change the amount; therefore do not automatically deduct the displayed figure from the gross price.
To this can be added a targeted local or cantonal aid, but only if an official program covers your case: municipality, battery, roof renovation, heritage or large PV roof. Only include it in the budget after written confirmation or an up-to-date official source.

Request multiple quotes
Before any administrative procedure, obtain 2 to 3 quotes from SUISSETEC certified installers. You will need the technical characteristics (power, brand of panels, layout diagram) to complete the Pronovo form.
Create an account on pronovo.ch
The platform is available in French, German and Italian. Registration takes 10 minutes. You will need to enter your municipality and the number of your cadastral plot (available on the cantonal land register of your municipality — free online).
Prepare Pronovo and clarify the schedule
For a small residential PV installation, keep the technical data ready but finalize the PRU after commissioning. If your project exceeds 100 kWp, targets an auction, a battery or municipal aid, check the schedule separately before signing.
Check local aid before signing
Ask the installer to indicate in the quote which aids are certain, which depend on your municipality or canton, and who prepares each file. Unconfirmed assistance should not fund your purchasing decision.
Have the installation carried out
The installer carries out the work, completes the commissioning file and carries out the electrical checks. It then provides the final documents necessary to close your Pronovo file.
Submit the closing file
After commissioning, return to pronovo.ch to submit: the commissioning report signed by the installer, photos of the completed installation, the final invoice certifying the installed panels. Payment depends on the status of the file, the documents received and the Pronovo processing; any deadline must remain indicative.
The most common errors
Applying the wrong delay rule. The risk is not only Pronovo: it is confusing federal PRU, municipal aid, battery or Buildings Program. Each counter has its own deposit time.
Let the installer "manage Pronovo" without checking. Some installers offer to handle the steps for you — which is convenient, but risky if you don't follow through. The request must be in your name, with your account. Ask to see the acknowledgment of receipt.
Change power or panels after request without notifying Pronovo. If your final installation differs from the declared characteristics, notify Pronovo before closing the file: the amount of the RU can be recalculated.
Count unconfirmed local aid. RU Pronovo is federal. Cantonal or municipal aid is not automatic: it can target a battery, a large roof, an overall renovation or a specific municipality. Check them in parallel, but don't promise them to the budget without proof.
