1. Document the problem
Record model, serial number, period, status message and available generation data. Distinguish lost communication from stopped generation. Have the code checked against model documentation and request findings before concluding that repair is impossible. Electrical inspections, settings and work require professionals with the applicable competence and authorisations.
2. Compare available solutions
Request repair, component exchange or replacement where offered for the model. Compare timing, warranty, diagnostic charges and included work. Warranty duration does not measure service life; a device may work beyond its warranty or fail earlier. Plan generation monitoring during downtime.
3. Check the existing installation
Have modules, string configuration, voltages, currents, connectors, protection and grid settings checked. Specify metering, monitoring and functions to retain. Equal kW ratings do not establish inverter interchangeability. Ask about necessary procedures and commissioning tests rather than treating replacement as simply connecting the new device.
4. Price additional needs
For a battery, charger or backup, request a complete configuration compatible with the offered models and software. A hybrid inverter does not support every battery or independently supply the home during an outage. Separate essential replacement costs from new options. Confirm functions actually available at commissioning.
5. Compare prices and cover
Itemise equipment, diagnosis, removal, installation, adaptations, access, configuration, testing and service charges. Compare the same scope and exclusions with a written schedule. Check warranty terms and the policy before calculating your remaining cost. Any support for a new project needs separate verification; assume neither full reimbursement nor automatic absence of cover.
6. Arrange return and handover
Specify who removes the old device and where it is returned. Separate equipment return, dismantling, travel and home collection. SENS describes free returns and paid collection services in applicable cases; confirm the route and quotation for your device. Keep findings, tests, documented settings, the new warranty and service contact.
